If you repeatedly type a password to open your own PDF, enter that known password once to create an unprotected copy. Or set an opening password before sending a quotation or report so the recipient needs it to open the document. Both tasks live on one page and neither overwrites the original file.
This is not a password-recovery program. Use it only for documents you own or are authorized to modify. It rewrites the PDF structure without turning pages into images, avoiding reprinting-related quality loss. Internal structure and file size may change, and existing digital signatures may no longer be valid.
An opening password is required before viewing a document. Print/copy restrictions govern actions after it is opened. Toolit sets an opening password, not permission restrictions. Unlocking creates a copy without password protection or print/copy restrictions. Only process permission-restricted documents if you are authorized to modify them.
Choose Set password and enter both the known current password and a new one. For compatibility, new passwords use 8–127 ASCII letters, digits or symbols without spaces. Use a long, unpredictable password rather than a birthday or phone number. Toolit does not store or recover your password.
Toolit checks the expected password status and page count. It does not validate every signature, attachment or specialized form. Open important files after downloading and keep signed originals separately. Setting a password neither removes malicious document content nor protects copies that have already been shared.
If a PDF requires a password to open, you must provide the correct one. Guessing and recovery are not supported. Ask the issuer for the password or an unprotected copy.
You will see that unlocking is unnecessary. Use the original instead of creating a redundant copy, or switch to Set password to protect it.
Pages are not rasterized or reprinted. Password protection is applied while retaining PDF text and graphics. File size can change as internal storage is rewritten, so open the final copy to check it.
It is not recommended. Rewriting the file can invalidate existing signatures. Keep the signed original and use the issuer or original signing software.
No. The PDF and passwords are processed in browser memory and are not uploaded. The engine needs an internet connection on first load. You are responsible for downloaded copies and your browser's password-saving features.
Document structure, protection method and device memory also matter. Re-enter an incorrect password, or save a fresh copy in the original PDF app if there is a structure warning. Use the designated software for certificate or organization-managed protection.
