Just three simple steps
- 1
Choose one JPG, PNG, or WEBP image.
- 2
Review common camera/GPS fields, removable blocks, and retained information.
- 3
Remove metadata and download a new file. The original remains untouched.
Inspect camera and location data, then save a cleaned sharing copy without recompression.

Photos can embed capture time, camera and lens models, and GPS coordinates beyond what you see. A marketplace photo taken at home may still contain location data after the visible background is hidden. This tool displays common EXIF fields and cleans EXIF, XMP, IPTC, text, and thumbnail metadata blocks.
Compressed image data is not rebuilt, so removal does not reduce image quality or remove transparency. Stripping every EXIF tag could rotate a portrait, so a minimal orientation tag and color profile are retained. This is not a zero-metadata guarantee: it reduces unnecessary sharing metadata while preserving display information.
GPS may be absent because location recording was disabled or a messaging app stripped it. XMP or PNG text blocks can still remain even without common EXIF fields. Check the removable-block summary too. A parsing failure is not reported as no metadata.
Savings depend on metadata and embedded thumbnail sizes. If image data dominates, the difference may be tiny or zero; rewriting a minimal orientation tag can even add a few bytes. Use Image Compressor for an upload size limit.
Faces, postal addresses, license plates, and views outside a window are pixels and remain visible. Descriptive or copyright text inside a color profile may also be retained. Downloads use photo-metadata-removed rather than the original filename, but sharing apps may add new metadata. Review visible content separately for sensitive photos.
No. The selected file is read only, and the cleaned image downloads as a new file in the same format. Originals in your photo app or cloud storage remain unchanged.
Some phone portraits rely on an orientation tag instead of rotated pixels. Orientations 2–8 are retained in a minimal EXIF block to avoid changing display. Capture time, GPS, and thumbnails are not retained with that tag.
No. The viewer shows common readable camera and GPS fields, not every maker-specific field or every XMP/IPTC value. Removal acts on metadata blocks, not only listed fields. Orientation and color rendering information are retained.
Not currently. Export HEIC from your photo app or HEIC Converter first. Animations and compound formats such as multi-image JPEGs with HDR auxiliary images are rejected to reduce the risk of changing their display.
Not necessarily. Check visible content, location attachments in sharing apps, and cloud permissions too. Metadata removal is one part of a sharing review, not a guarantee of anonymity or leak prevention.
