A transparent PNG is useful when a product must sit on a different color card or listing image. An automatic cutout is not automatically publish-ready: inspect thin straps, glass, hair, and other complex edges.
This guide walks from source selection to final review. Results vary by photo, and automatic separation cannot replace careful photography or manual retouching in every case.

Use a sharp, fully visible subject against a distinct background.

Do not resave as JPG if you need transparency.
How to do it in your browser

Prepare one JPG, PNG, or WEBP photo. Desktop limits are 15MB and 12MP; mobile limits are 8MB and 4MP.

Open the image in Background Remover and run the faster Balanced mode first. Preparing the browser environment may take longer on first use.

Switch among grid, white, and dark preview backdrops. Inspect outlines, gaps, and translucent details. Try Detailed only if the edge needs another pass.

Which source photos are easier to separate?
A fully visible, in-focus subject with a clear color or brightness difference from the background is easier to inspect. A similarly colored backdrop or a shadow joined to the product can make the boundary uncertain.
Balanced favors faster processing; Detailed is worth trying for an edge-sensitive photo. Neither setting guarantees a flawless outline. The exported PNG keeps the source dimensions, but a processing mode cannot restore detail missing in the source.
Why inspect both light and dark backgrounds?
A pale fringe may blend into a white preview and stand out on dark. The checkerboard helps distinguish transparent space from pixels that only look white.
If part of the original backdrop remains or a product detail is cut away, do not publish the result unreviewed. Try a different source or compare the Detailed result.
Save it in a format that keeps transparency
The tool exports transparent PNG. Some viewers display transparent areas on white; that alone does not mean the pixels became white. Put the image over a contrasting background to check.
JPG cannot store transparency. Keep the PNG if the cutout will be placed over other designs, even if you later make a separate flattened JPG for a particular destination.

Is Detailed always better than Balanced?
No. It may help on difficult edges but results vary. Compare both outputs on the backgrounds you will use.
Could a white-looking result still be transparent?
Yes. The viewer may show transparent pixels on white. Use the grid preview or place the PNG over a different color.
