Just three simple steps

  1. 1

Paste the original and revised text, or open one text file on each side, then enter the comparison workspace.

  2. 2

Use the always-visible controls to switch line or word mode and ignore spaces, case, or blank lines. Line mode can also show only changed rows.

  3. 3

Use the pinned overview to navigate differences, save the report, or clean the revised text and return to the comparison.

Supported formats

Supports TXT, MD, MARKDOWN, JSON, CSV, TSV, LOG, XML, and YAML files up to 2MB each. Files are read as UTF-8 text.

Separate content changes from formatting noise

Line or word diff · Ignore insignificant changes · Filter and navigate changes · TXT or HTML export

Review only what changed instead of rereading two documents

Small edits are easy to miss when you alternate between an AI-revised paragraph, contract draft, report, translation, or configuration file. Text Comparer aligns both versions and marks additions, removals, and revised lines with distinct colors.

If spacing, blank lines, or letter case creates distracting noise, exclude those differences and compare again. Source files are not uploaded, and the comparison is produced inside your browser.

Line and word comparison

Use line mode for document structure and configuration files, then word mode to inspect wording inside a sentence.

Hide insignificant differences

Exclude spacing, case, or blank-line changes when formatting cleanup overwhelms the meaningful edits.

Keep a review record

Save TXT as a context-aware patch or HTML as a side-by-side table when you need to share review evidence.

Helpful answers before you start

Can I compare DOCX or PDF files directly?

The tool currently supports formats whose text can be read directly. DOCX and PDF contain layout, tables, and images that a plain-text comparison could misrepresent, so they are not accepted.

Does Ignore spaces modify my source?

No. Toolit creates a temporary normalized version only for comparison. Your original and revised inputs remain unchanged, while exported reports reflect the active comparison options.

How are modified lines distinguished from additions and removals?

A removed line followed by a nearby new line is paired as a modification. A line with no counterpart is shown as an addition or removal. Major restructuring can cause some edits to appear as separate additions and removals.

Why did the comparison stop?

Very large documents with little in common can require excessive processing. Toolit stops at a safety limit to keep the browser responsive; use line mode or compare smaller sections.
